 The mois de la photo
The Mois de la Photo will take place in Paris in October. The theme for this edition is "European photography - tradition and transformation". Photography is going through a period of intense transformation, with new technologies invading all areas of image-making. The exhibitions chosen by Françoise Huguier, Laura Serani and Marc Donnadieu attempt to establish an inventory of photography today.

 Halloween
Roaming spirits and ghosts are waiting to give us a scare on the dark night of October 31. For the annual Halloween festivities, both children and adults alike will be disguising themselves as ghosts, elves, bats, Dracula, Frankenstein or witches as they go "trick or treating" from door-to-door.

 The Inrocks Festival
The Inrocks Festival is an unusual travelling festival without a star billing in the traditional sense of the term, and which will be in Paris from November 12-18. A number of concert venues throughout the capital will be welcoming artists such as Franz Ferdinand.

The Vendée Globe
The Vendée Globe solo yacht race is one of the world's most famous nautical events and will be setting off from Les Sables d’Olonne on November 9. The skippers will be pushed to their limits by the sea as they travel unassisted and non-stop over this 43,000 km race route passing via three Capes: the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Leeuwin and Cape Horn. Founded in 1989, this race is an incredible adventure, a gruelling round-the-world challenge which has seen more than one contestant drop out along the way.

Festiventu in Calvi
The 17th Calvi "wind festival" will be held from October 29 to November 2. The aim of Festiventu is to bring together as many people as possible from various disciplines including the arts, sport, science, ecology and the charities. The event provides an excellent forum for meetings and discussions. Over the space of five days visitors can enjoy the excitement of the numerous concerts, plays, street theatre performances, films, conferences, debates and workshops.
