Summary of our tips:

Cheapest solution: Buses 183 and 285
Fastest solution: Orlyval/RER B
Most simple solution: Bus 285

1) RER B or RER C (train service linking Paris to the suburbs)

RER B: This airport’s closest RER station is Antony (about 5 miles away from the airport) and is accessible thanks to a shuttle called Orlyval that departs from the South and West terminals. It will cost you 11.30€ for a one-way ticket (this price includes the Orlyval ticket as well as the RER one) and you will be able to buy it at the ticket counter before your departure. The Orlyval runs every three minutes between 6am and 11pm and the ride lasts for 10 minutes. When you get to Antony station, you will have to take the blue line in the direction of Mitry-Claye or aéroport Charles de Gaulle. The RER takes about 30 minutes to reach downtown Paris.

Time: ~40 minutes (Orlyval + RER)

Frequency: Every 6-8 minutes

First train / last train: 3.02am / 11.50pm

Destinations at the center of Paris: Gare du Nord

Price: 11.30€ (Orlyval + RER)

Our opinion: The RER B runs all day long, has a large choice of times and stops, and is quite fast. However, it is very crowded and not always comfortable.

RER C: Another RER line links the center of Paris to the airport Orly and it is the line C that will cost you less but will take longer than the RER B/Orlyval option. To get there, you will have to take a shuttle to the RER station Pont de Rungis-Aéroport Orly, it runs around every 20 minutes between 5am and 11pm and the ride is only 10 minutes. This journey will only cost you 2.50€ per person. Once you are at the station Pont de Rungis, you will only have to take the yellow line, the one for the RER C, with the direction Pontoise or Montigny Beauchamp. The ride is about 40 minutes long and costs 3.90€ for a one-way ticket.

Time: ~50 minutes (Orlyval + RER)

Frequency: Every 20 minutes

First train / last train: 4.53am / 11.40pm

Destinations at the center of Paris: Paris Austerlitz, les Invalides.

Price: 6.40€ (shuttle + RER)

Our opinion: Although it is often overcrowded and not always very clean, the RER C stops at strategic places in Paris and is suitable for families on a budget. The ride is very long, however, and not very comfortable, unlike buses and taxis.

2) Buses

-ORLYBUS: Just like the airport Charles de Gaulle, Orly has its own bus that will get you to the center of Paris. The Orlybus departs from both terminals every 10 to 20 minutes between 6am and 12.30am. It will get you to Paris Denfert-Rochereau in the southern part of the center of Paris and will cost you 7.70€ for a one-way ticket which you can buy directly on the bus.

Time: ~25-35 minutes

Frequency: 10-20 minutes

First bus / last bus: 6am / 12.30am

Destinations at the center of Paris: Paris Denfert-Rochereau

Price: 7.70€

Our opinion: The Orlybus will get you to the RER B as well as the lines 4 and 6 of the subway through Paris Denfert-Rochereau. It gets to the center of Paris quite fast while offering you the comfort of a bus and for a reasonable price.

-Bus 183: Bus 183 is the cheapest solution. It departs from the South terminal every half-hour and takes about 90 minutes to get to its last stop: Porte de Choisy. A one-way ticket will cost you 1.90€ and you can buy it on the bus.

bus 183

Time: ~45 minutes

Frequency: Every 30 minutes

First bus / last bus: 6am – 12.20am

Destinations at the center of Paris: Porte de Choisy

Price: 1.90€

Our opinion: This option will allow you to reach the RER C easily as multiple bus stops are also RER stations and the last stop will lead you to line 7 of the subway. However, it only runs every 30 minutes and takes longer than the other means of transport available at the airport or around it. Bus 183 is still ideal for people on a budget.

-Bus 285: Also leaves from the South terminal and goes all the way to the subway station Villejuif-Louis Aragon in 15 minutes. This will also cost you 1.90€ for a one-way ticket and there is a bus every 10/20 minutes from Monday to Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sundays. When it comes to times, both buses run between 5am and 1am from Monday to Sunday.

bus 285

Time: ~15 minutes

Frequency: Every 10-20 minutes

First bus / last bus: 5.12am / 12.45am

Destinations at the center of Paris: Villejuif-Louis Aragon

Price: 1.90€

Our opinion: Bus 285 is a better option compared to Bus 185 as it runs more frequently and gets to its last stop fast. Furthermore, it is a very cheap option that will get you to line 7 of the subway (if you get off at Villejuif-Louis Aragon) at a low cost.

-AUTOCAR AIR FRANCE LINE 1: Air France provides you with a bus line that links the airport Orly to the center of Paris. Line 1 departs from both terminals and stops at the Arc de Triomphe as well as stopping by the Gare Montparnasse. The bus runs from 6am to 11.40pm and departs every half-hour. The ride will take about 45 minutes. Keep in mind that tickets bought online in advance are cheaper. If you buy them online, it will only cost you 12€ per adult for a one-way ticket, whereas a two-way ticket is 18€. If you are in a group of 4 or more, then the ticket will be 9€ per person for a one-way ticket.

Time: ~ 45 minutes

Frequency: Every 30 minutes

First bus / last bus: 5.50am / 11.30pm

Destinations at the center of Paris: Gare Montparnasse, Eiffel Tower, Trocadéro, Champs-Elysées.

Price: Starts at 12€ per person

Our opinion: It is a slightly expensive option for a single person but is attractive for a group of people, especially as you will benefit from the safety of a bus rather than the RER. The Autocar reaches the center of Paris quite fast.

-LINE N31 (Night bus): This night bus departs from the South terminal of the airport Orly. To reach this terminal, there is a free shuttle at your disposal called “Navette Parking” that leads to the terminals Orly Sud and Orly Ouest to get you to your bus safely. This shuttle runs from 3.30am to 12.30am and departs every 9 to 19 minutes. The night bus ticket will cost 6€ and you can buy it directly on the bus, at the airport, or even in any RER/subway station.

Time: ~ 80 minutes

Frequency: Every 30 minutes

First bus / last bus: 12.55am / 4.55am

Destinations at the center of Paris: Gare de Lyon

Price: 6€ per person

Our opinion: Among the three night buses, this one is much slower than the others but departs more frequently, which means you won’t have to wait too long in the middle of the night.

-LINE N131 (Night Bus): This night bus departs from the South terminal of Orly airport. To reach this terminal, you have a free shuttle at your disposal called “Navette Parking” that leads to the terminals Orly Sud and Orly Ouest to get you to your bus safely. This shuttle runs from 3.30am to 12.30am and departs every 9 to 19 minutes. The night bus ticket will cost 6€ and you can buy it directly on the bus, at the airport, or even in any RER/subway station.

Time: ~ 25minutes

Frequency: Every hour

First bus / last bus: 12.57am / 3.57am

Destinations at the center of Paris: Gare de Lyon

Price: 6€ per person

Our opinion: It is the fastest option to reach the center of Paris in the middle of the night, but it only departs every hour which means you will probably have to wait for that bus. The price is affordable and comfort and security are guaranteed.

-LINE N144 (Night bus): This night bus departs from the South terminal of Orly airport.

Time: ~ 25-44 minutes depending on where you get off

Frequency: Every hour

First bus / last bus: 1.01am / 4.51am

Destinations at the center of Paris: Châtelet, Gare de Lyon, Gare de l’Est

Price: 6€ per person

Our opinion: Just like bus N131, it is a fast solution, quite cheap, offering you security and comfort, but it only departs every hour, which can become a drawback. A little bonus of that night bus: there are three strategic destinations in the center of Paris, unlike the two others.

3) Taxi

taxi

You will find taxi stations at the two terminals and the ride will cost you 30€ for the right bank and 35€ for the left bank (inclusive price). The ride will last about forty minutes depending on traffic and where you want to go.

Time: ~40 minutes

Frequency: They drive constantly

Destinations at the center of Paris: Whichever one you want

Price: 30€ (Rive Droite) 35€ (Rive Gauche)

Our opinion: It is quite expensive and you take the risk of getting stuck in traffic and having to wait a long time to get a taxi, but you choose where you want to get off and you are guaranteed transport 24/7 (or close to it) while having the comfort of a car.

-MOTORCYCLE-TAXI: Although it is not a frequently used method of transport, the motorcycle-taxi remains practical and fast when you do not want to wait for a regular cab. You can book one in advance and the price of the fare to get from the airport Charles de Gaulle to the center of Paris is 95€. The motorcycle-taxi takes about 50 minutes to get to the center of Paris depending on traffic. For more information, you can visit Citybird’s website or Motocab’s website.

Time: ~40 minutes

Price: 75€

Our opinion: If you want to reach the center of Paris rapidly, it is a good option, especially as the motorcycle is comfortable and solid. However, you will not be able to carry big luggage because there is not much space on the vehicle and this solution is better for people traveling alone.

    4) Airport transfer through a private service with a chauffeur

A private transfer service is a fast way to reach the center of Paris from the airport. You will first have to pre-book your ride before landing and then a chauffeur will wait for you in the hall with your name on a sign. Your ride will cost you much more than a taxi ride but you will be in a comfortable premium vehicle and will not have to wait in line to get a taxi.

    Time: ~40 minutes

    Hours: Anytime you want

Destinations at the center of Paris: This is your choice

    Price: Starts at 85€

Our opinion: The price is high but regular, regardless of where you want to go, you do not have to wait and the cars have air conditioning and are comfortable.

    5) Super Shuttle

It is a private or shared shuttle that will drive you to the center of Paris. The price depends on the destination as well as the number of passengers. When it comes to how long the ride lasts for, it is between one hour to an hour and a half depending on your destination. For more information and exact prices, click here.

    Time: ~60 minutes

    Hours: Whenever you want.

Destinations at the center of Paris: Wherever you want.

Price: Starts at 23€ for the first passenger, then 7€ for additional passengers.

Our opinion: The Super Shuttle will take you either to the hotel or to your place and can contain up to 8 people for a reasonable price. Only the first passenger pays full price and the others only have to pay a fraction of the price. It is ideal for large families and cheaper than a taxi but you have to share the shuttle with other people, unless you request a private one, which is more expensive. It can be a slower option because the Super Shuttle has to drop other people off.
