Celebrities Who Lived in a Parisian Hotel

    Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel lived in the Ritz Hotel for approximately 34 years, from 1937 until she died in 1971.

She occupied a suite on the third floor, decorated with her taste, including Venetian mirrors, and Asian lacquer. Chanel directed her fashion house from the Ritz.

During the German occupation of Paris, she kept living there, which provoked controversies.

Today, the Ritz Hotel honors her legacy with the “Coco Chanel suite” preserved to reflect her style.

    Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway also regularly stayed at the Ritz Hotel, considering this hotel as his second home.

He is famous for symbolically “freeing” the Ritz in 1944 during the liberation of Paris, by arriving with a group of activists.

Hemingway spent a lot of time at the hotel’s bar, which is now called “Bar Hemingway” in his honor.

The Ritz was a place of inspiration for him and he wrote several of his works there.

    F. Scott Fitzgerald

Scott Fitzgerald also frequently stayed at the Ritz in the 20s.

The hotel was a place of predilection for him and his wife Zelda, and he met many celebrities of his time there.

Fitzgerald was influenced by the elegant atmosphere of the Ritz, which is reflected in his writing.

The Ritz Hotel, with its luxurious environment, was used as a background for many of his stories and represents the wealthy lifestyle often described in his books.

    Salvador Dalí

Instead of the Ritz Hotel, Salvador Dalí frequently stayed at the Hotel Le Meurice in Paris.

He stayed there for one month every year, from 1950 to 1980.

Dalí was known for his eccentric demands and his wild behavior, particularly for bringing exotic animals into the hotel.

Le Meurice, located on Rue Rivoli, was an inspirational place for the artist.

Today, this hotel still celebrates its link with Dalí with suites and areas decorated in tribute to his unique style and artistic legacy.
