I paid a visit to Odette, a charming little pastry shop right next to Notre-Dame Cathedral. It’s known for its cream puffs—called “choux” in French—and its cozy terrace that feels like a hidden spot in the middle of Paris.
Here’s what I saw, what I tasted, and why this place is worth a stop if you’re in the area.
The Famous Little Pastry Shop Near Notre-Dame
Odette is not just another bakery. It’s a small, beautiful spot with a black-and-white storefront, tucked between old Parisian buildings.
It’s famous for its cream puffs and for the terrace that overlooks Notre-Dame.
When I went there on a weekday around midday, the terrace was almost empty. No big crowds, no long lines—just a peaceful little corner where you could sit and enjoy the view.
Even though I didn’t visit the first floor inside, the outside seating was one of the calmest terraces I’ve seen in Paris. It’s partly covered, so even if it rains, you can stay dry while watching people stroll by.
What Makes Odette Special
Odette is all about choux pastry—those light, fluffy little cream puffs you see in the window.
You can get them one by one or in small boxes.
I bought a box of three cream puffs for €7.50, which is a good deal for Paris. The flavors I picked were citron (lemon), praliné (hazelnut), and vanille (vanilla).
The cream inside was smooth, generous, and not too sweet.
Everything tasted fresh and just right—not heavy at all. My favorite was the praliné one, but honestly, they were all delicious.
I didn’t eat them right away. I saved them and went to Jardin du Luxembourg to enjoy them on a bench, surrounded by flowers and trees.
It made the experience even better.
Why People Love This Place

Odette is more than just pastries—it’s the whole atmosphere.
You’re eating sweet little cream puffs while sitting across from Notre-Dame, in a quiet street away from the tourist crowds.
The terrace is tiny but cozy. It feels like a secret spot only a few people know about.
And if you’re looking for a light Paris treat (not a heavy dessert), this is a perfect choice.
Things to Know Before You Go
- Go during weekdays if you want the terrace almost for yourself.
- Prices are fair for Paris (around €7.50 for 3 cream puffs).
- Best flavors? Try praliné if you like nutty tastes!
- Where to enjoy them? Take them to a park like Luxembourg Gardens for a real Parisian moment.
- Rain? No problem—the terrace is partly sheltered.
In short: Odette offers some of the best little bites you can have in Paris. Simple, elegant, and full of charm—just like the city itself.
