How to Dress in Paris in September
Now that you know all about the weather in Paris in September, here are a few tips for putting together outfits according to the weather forecast during your stay.
☀️ When it’s sunny
During the first two weeks of September, mid-day temperatures are still very mild, so I recommend you wear a light top and pants as you stroll down the streets of Paris.
According to your preference, you may also wear a light flowing dress to enjoy the sunny days of early September.
💡 Please note: In order to avoid being too hot during the day, I don’t recommend wearing a pair of tights at this time of the year.
☁️ When it’s cloudy
I recommend carrying a lightweight jacket for the early evening as well as for the cloudy days. There is no need to wear a winter coat, a cardigan will do.
As for the bottoms, I recommend picking a rather warm one, such as a pair of long yet lightweight pants, to be comfortable and prevent the risk of catching a cold.
Another option to consider is a mid-length skirt, or a lightweight midi dress, both of which provide an additional layer without being too warm.
🌧️ When it rains
In September, rainfall in Paris is typically quite light, so no worries: you can still fully enjoy the city even if it happens to rain.
For a rainy day, I recommend packing a pair of closed shoes so you can still go on a walk despite the poor weather.
I also recommend carrying a compact folding umbrella with you during your stay to be prepared in case of sudden rainfall.
How NOT to Dress in Paris in September
Even though temperatures begin to gradually cool down as the fall comes, September afternoons are generally quite warm.
I do not recommend overly thick clothing such as winter coats, or wool sweaters, which are not suited to the season. Instead, a lightweight jacket will do for the cooler temperatures of the early evening.
How Not to Look Like a Tourist in Paris?
If you want to blend in with the locals in Paris, I recommend dressing casual and elegant by picking neutral-tone clothing.
Yet, I recommend avoiding overly casual or sporty outfits and instead pick tailored clothing and statement pieces.
