About this place
At Digne-les-Bains, discover the Dalle aux Ammonites, a slab of rock dating from 200 million years ago, which contains more than 1500 ammonite fossils, the largest of which can reach the impressive size of 70 centimetres. The region of Digne-les-Bains is known for being the region in Europe with the most butterflies. A special park is entirely dedicated to them. In the Jardins des Papillons (Butterfly Gardens), you can see over 115 species. In the heart of the city, facing the Digne-les-Bains city museum, lies the Botanical Garden, an area of calm and greenery, which is part of the Route de la Lavande (Lavender Road). Sit in the Digne-les-Bains sunshine and enjoy the local culinary specialities, aubergine caviar and garlic leg of lamb.
