The majestic Cathedral of Saint Peter of Angoulême is a jewel of Romanesque art. Next to it is the Museum of Fine Arts, which has a fine collection of African art works. Angoulême is the undisputed capital of the Comic Strip. In its streets, you will find 23 walls painted with the heroes of that art - Gaston Lagaffe, Titeuf, Boule et Bill - and over 1000 street plates take the form of dialogue bubbles! Every year, Angoulême organises the International Comic Strip Festival and the monuments of the city are changed into exhibition venues so that the public can see their favourite albums and authors. To discover the city, take the Promenade des Remparts, which offers a superb panorama of the Charente.
