Le Mont-Dore is a renowned spa town in Auvergne, but it is also a ski resort. The Spa buildings in Le Mont-Dore are quite remarkable. Built in a neo-Byzantine style, they contain the vestiges of the Roman baths and frescoes from the XIXth century. At the Le Pailleret micro-museum, we can follow all the changes Le Mont-Dore has undergone over the last century through a series of models, and etchings on glass. The Le Capucin funicular railway is the oldest electric funicular in France, and when you reach the top you will have a superb view over the Valley of the Dordogne and the Grande Cascade.
