Selection of events taking place in Paris in May. |
 The famous Foire du Trône country fair opens on March 31st at the Pelouse de Reuilly. One of the oldest fairs in France, it attracts a staggering 5 million visitors each year. A huge amusement park with more than 350 attractions like arcades and rollercoasters as well as more traditional attractions such as a large Ferris Wheel, acrobats, jugglers and fire-eaters. Love apples and other classic French candies should not be missed either.

 International museums day
As every year, the international museums day will take place on 18th May. The objective of this event is to arouse public awareness to the various challenges facing museums. The 2008 day's topic will be "Musuems as agent of social change and development". Various visits, attractions, conferences and concerts will be freely available to the public.

 Gardens, garden
The garden event at the heart of Paris. "Jardins, jardin" offers city dwellers a discovery of the various jobs around the garden in the city. The event, which will take place from May 30st till June 1st, promotes the savoir-faire of gardeners and landscape specialists in the making of innovative and quality gardens, and the respect for the environment. Dream gardens, city gardens, balconies and ephemeral gardens: all those gardens will be in the Tuileries gardens.

 The Marais Nights For the second year of Marais Nights, sixty arts galleries leave their doors open up untill late in the night. The public is invited to discover a wealth of cotemporary creation from Bastille quarter to Beaubourg and from the République quarter to the river Seine. This event aims at enhancing relationships between artists, galery-owners and the public. There will be a common inauguration ("vernissage") on May 10th and the event will carry on untill May 12th.

 Bordeaux International Fair will take place from 1st till 12th May.China will be this year's special guest. Wander through music and dances from China Art Company in the Chinese market with exotic produce especially prepared on this occasion. During those 10 days, the Bordeaux Exhibition Parc (Parc des Expositions de Bordeaux) will feature the past, present and future of this wide land with 24 dynasties and 400 emperors.

 Deauville International Sailing Week An internationnally renowned resort, Deauville is an ideal site to host a great nautical event like the International Sailing Week, which will take place from May 28th till June 1st. British, Irish, Belgian, Dutch, German and Scandinavian crews will compete with French sailboats. Like every year, some of the most competitive modern sailboats will be there for this famous international event.

 French Wine Convention
The Salon des vins de France will take place from on May 3rd and 4th and will host a limited number of French wine-growers. Indeed, only wine-growers who elaborate the wine in their own cellar or other gastronomy professionals who make the wine themselves will take part.
