The Grande Braderie de Lille (a giant open-air rummage sale) will be held on September 6 and 7. Almost 2 million visitors will be exploring hundreds of kilometres of alleyways in this, one of Europe's largest flea markets. The culinary delicacy for the weekend will naturally be mussels with fries, and according to tradition at the end of the day each restaurant in the town places all of the shells of the mussels consumed in a huge pyramid in front of their doors!
