The most prestigious monument in Narbonne is certainly its Cathedral of Saint Just and Saint Pastor. Unfortunately, this superb edifice was never completed due to the invasion of the town in 1355. Narbonne is a town steeped in history. Proof of that is the Via Domitia - a Roman road connecting Narbonne to Italy in the 5th century. The city of Narbonne comes alive in its covered market, full of the scents and colours of the South. Not far from the town centre is Narbonne beach. Close to the city, the Gouffre de l'Oeil Doux offers a nice walk but retains some mystery about its origin!
