Lens is known first and foremost for its remarkable football club, which celebrated its centenary in 2006. But Lens is also a city of art and history: Walk along Boulevard Emile Basly and see the superb, brightly coloured houses in the Art Deco style. Lens has not forgotten its past as a mining town. At the Maison Syndicale (Trade Union Centre), exhibitions relate the history of the mine workers' struggles.
