In the 13th district of Paris, the Gare d'Austerlitz is situated on the left bank of the Seine, near the Charles de Gaulle Bridge. Its mainline network serves the Southwest of France as well as Spain.
In recent years, the Gare d'Austerlitz has lost a large part of its traffic due to the Montparnasse TGV station also covering all of the regions of the Southwest.
Due to the presence of the Charles de Gaulle Bridge connecting it to the Gare de Lyon, the recent business district nearby, the many cafes, restaurants, and hotels, the Gare d'Austerlitz area is still important, notably due to the presence of the Pitié Salpêtrière hospital, one of the largest hospitals in Paris.
