Beaubourg - Centre Georges Pompidou Métro: Rambuteau. Open every day except Tuesdays and 1st May. 11am-10pm. No admissions sold after 8pm. Late opening on Thursdays till 11pm, for exhibitions on Level 6. No admissions sold after 10pm.
The National Museum of Modern Art, located on the 3rd & 4th floors, is one of the word's most extensive collection of modern art. Fauvism and Cubism characterize early 20th c. artwork such as Matisse's use of bright colourful shapes. Cubism depicts its subject as a composite of geometrical forms like Braque, Gris, Léger and Picasso.
Among the post-World War painters exhibited are the Abstractionists Kandisky and Klee and the Surrealists Dali and Miro.
