Tourist Information
To the east of Paris and right alongside the Château de Vincennes, the Bois de Vincennes (Vincennes Forest) was a private hunting ground for royalty from the 11th century onward.
After a period of neglect, the City of Paris took over management of the forest from 1860 onward. Napoleon III decided to renovate this magnificent forest to turn it into a public park. Unfortunately, the Bois de Vincennes suffered major damage over successive wars and, after World War II, the City of Paris reforested and renovated the Bois de Vincennes once again.
Today, it occupies 995 hectares and includes four lakes, around which numerous opportunities for sports and walking are available to locals and visitors, not to mention the former munitions factory that has been converted into a theater known as "La Cartoucherie."
During your trip to Paris and in the neighborhood of the Bois de Vincennes, France Hotel Guide can offer you a range of luxury hotels, boutique hotels, romantic and charming hotels and budget hotels.
