Tourist Information
The Cité de la Musique in Paris opened in 1995. It is situated in the Parc de la Villette, a small town in itself covering an area of 53,000 sq.m. It is a place whose aim is to be open to all: performers, music-lovers, amateurs and professionals come here to enjoy music from all horizons. They come to learn, appreciate, practise and discover music. Music is presented there in all its forms and all cultures are represented, through exhibitions, concerts, but also educational workshops in which anyone can participate. The Cité de la Musique also houses a superb museum with a rich collection of over nine hundred musical instruments dating from the XVth century to the present day. A media library completes the facilities offered by the Cité de la Musique. It consists of a music library and an information centre that includes the world's largest data base on the subject of music. The Cité de la Musique can be found at 221 avenue Jean Jaurès in the XIXth arrondissement of Paris, Metro station Porte de Pantin. http://www.cite-musique.fr/
