Tourist Information
At No. 6, Place Saint Germain des Prés, in the 6th arrondissement, the name of the "Deux Magots" dates from 1812, when the site was occupied by a store selling curios. In 1885, the store became a café but kept its name.
The "Deux Magots" café has always played a role in the cultural life of Paris. It was the hangout for many artists including Jean Giraudoux, Pablo Picasso, Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir and Jacques Prévert.
Today, the "Deux Magots" is one of the oldest surviving cafés in Paris.
It attracts both locals and tourists seeking the atmosphere that is simultaneously unique and traditional - and where you can dine at any time of day. You will appreciate its magnificent terrace, with views of the Church of Saint Germain des Prés.
