Tourist Information In the 19th century, the journalist Arthur Meyer was looking for a way to enable his readers to see the faces of the personalities of whom he spoke in his articles. That is how the House of Wax idea was born. Arthur Meyer turned to the artist and sculptor Alfred Grévin, who took up the great project with passion and ended up giving it his name. The Grévin Waxworks Museum was inaugurated on 5 June 1882 and was an immediate success. Even today, it continues to draw crowds who come here to see their idols among the 300 wax statues that live in the Grévin Museum.
