Tourist Information
The Palais Bourbon was built for Louise Françoise de Bourbon, daughter of King Louis XIV. It took 6 years and 4 architects to build this famous palace. When its owner died, the king sold it to the Prince of Condé who undertook major rebuilding work and considerably extended the Palace. But in 1791, the state confiscated it from him and declared the building a National Property. The Palais Bourbon then became the Ecole Polytechnique before becoming the seat of the Council of the Five Hundred. The Palace was extended once more and the interior decoration entrusted to Eugène Delacroix. It was at this time that the famous hemicycle was built. Today, the Palais Bourbon still houses the French National Assembly, and it is possible to visit it. http://www.assemblee-nationale.fr/
