In 1981, the west of Paris was a quarter that lacked animation. It was to deal with this problem and bring some life back into this part of the capital that the city decided to build the Palais Omnisport de Bercy. A competition was organised in order to choose an innovative project, and it was won by three architects Andrault-Parat, Prouvé and Guvan who had put forward a plan for a pyramid-shaped building whose exterior car parks are grassed over! The Palais Omnisport de Bercy was inaugurated in 1984. It is a totally modular space that can be used to hold all types of events, sports competitions in particular, but also concerts, conferences or meetings. The hall can seat up to 17,000 spectators. The multi-purpose stage can easily be transformed from a skating rink into a pool or traditional stage. The Palais Omnisport is therefore truly suited to all sports: skiing, horse shows, motor sports, dance, ice shows, martial arts festivals... The advantage of the Bercy hall is that wherever the spectator is seated, he has perfect visibility as there are no posts to hinder his view of the stage. http://www.bercy.fr/
