Tourist Information
Renamed Place Charles de Gaulle, the Place de L'Étoile ("Star Square") is the meeting point of the 8th, 16th and 17th and 18th districts, radiating out to no fewer than 12 avenues.
At the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle is the Arc de Triomphe or “Triumphal Arch.” This Parisian icon was built in the Napoleonic era 1806 and 1836. Its magisterial character and the daily commemorative ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier make it all the more fascinating.
The Place Charles de Gaulle attracts tourists from the world over thanks to its views over the Champs Elysées and the business district of La Défense and its Great Arch.
